Nelson Bay is a gorgeous beach town in the Port Stephens region. There are plenty of things to do in Nelson Bay, but the Bay also acts as a gateway to many of the other delights within Port Stephens. The coast is dotted with the most serene beaches joining nearby towns, such as Shoal Bay and Fingal Bay, together by a short stroll along the coastline. Many popular cruises are available at the Nelson Bay Marina for whale and dolphin watching and deep-sea fishing and this is a favorite for many visitors.
Another must during your Lower North Coast stay is to walk to the top of Tomaree Headland in Shoal Bay. Over 100,000 visitors climb to the peak each year to view the panoramic landscape across the water and the region.
There’s over 50 wineries in the whole of the Lower North Coast, including the world-renowned Lindemans Wine, Tyrell's Vineyards and Wyndham Estate wineries. Many of the wineries offer wine tastings and sales.
